Activities in Oslo
Oslo is a city of contrasts. On the one hand it is a metropolis of international standard. On the other, it yields alternatives that we don't normally associate with state capitals.
The city's location between the fjord and the "Marka", Oslo's forests, make it an exciting place for outdoor leisure, hence many activities are open-air activities.
You might like a guided tour; by bus, boat or on foot. Or perhaps you would prefer to cycle, play golf, go skiing – long distance or alpine skiing. Or maybe you would like to go riding or fishing? If you feel like sunbathing and swimming there are several outdoor bathing complexes or you can take a ferry to one of the islands in the Oslo Fjord. Yours is the choice!
Attractions
Oslo has some 50 museums and a number of galleries. Amongst the more internationally renowned are places such as the Vigeland Park, the Viking Ship Museum, Kon-Tiki, the Fram Museum, the National Gallery, Norsk Folkemuseum (The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History), the Munch Museum, and the Holmenkollen ski jump. Sightseeing tickets can be purchased at tourist information offices.
People who are visiting Oslo for the first time tend to be overwhelmed by the number and variety of restaurants and entertainment options.
Oslo's wealth of restaurants, bistros and bars seems inexhaustible. Most of them are concentrated within a limited area, and by and large they are within walking distance from one another. Yet, every part of town has its distinctive flavour and is worth a visit.
On the Town
Aker Brygge: According to some globetrotters, Aker Brygge is the most attractive place in all of North Europe for people who want a tasty meal in a distinctive setting. New York has its South Street Seaport, San Francisco has its Fisherman's Wharf and Oslo has its Aker Brygge. At Aker Brygge there are some 5000 restaurant seats, 2500 of which are in the open air. Every palate and every wallet can be accommodated, though the selection is probably mostly geared to thick wallets. In summer, in particular, this area down by the fjord is just teeming with pleasure seekers around the clock, and a pleasant stroll along the quay costs nothing.
  Eating Out
No less than six restaurants in Oslo currently flash Michelin stars. For a gourmet meal choose between Bagatelle (**), Le Canard (*), Stadtholdergaarden(*), Annen Etage(*), Oro(*) or Feinschmecker(*). Norwegian chefs are in the world class and Oslo's restaurants has several of them.
In general, you can take your pick between old-fashioned rustic fare or exquisite dishes of fish, wild game, elk, reindeer or exotic flavours from every part of the world. Raw materials are gleaned from the bosom of nature, and are fresh and unspoiled. Here you can have delicious and exciting meals of every kind and price category.
There are actually also many good alternatives for people on shoestring budgets, as illustrated by the numerous foreign restaurants that have mushroomed in later years.

Shopping / Sightseeing in Oslo
Ekeberg Camping is a mere 10 minute drive from the very heart of Oslo, where you find shopping alternatives to your heart's desire. The following is a brief description of city precincts:
The Heart of the City, Karl Johan
In the centre, around Karl Johan, you find all kinds of discos, nightclubs, bars, jazz clubs and cafés amongst the shops. All age groups will find something suitable. Rosenkrantz street has discotheques and nightclubs lined up; jazz and blues clubs can be found near the city court house and the Stortorvet [market square], while on Karl Johan itself, the bars are salient. Large concert halls are also conveniently located in the centre within walking distance of Karl Johan.

Grünerløkka
Shifting the stage to Grünerløkka, you can mix with the young and trendy. Here there are plenty of small cafés, restaurants, bars and other places to chose between. Just relax in a sofa from the sixties with a good cup of Cafe Late, or perch on a bar stool with one of the best drinks in town or listen to some of the best DJs

Grønland
Grønland is the "hottest" place in town these days, as far as entertainment is concerned. The young and trendy are carving their way eastwards from Grünerløkka to Grønland where new bars, cafés and restaurants are forever popping up. In Grønland bars there is a fascinating blend of "brown" and extremely trendy styles, and you will find people there from all over the world.

Both Grünerløkka and Grønland are popular amongst the city's students.

Majorstua
Majorstua, with it’s roads Bogstadveien and Hegdehaugsveien, has been a hub of nightlife for many years. The public here is somewhat uptown, including successful and trendy youths from the West Side. Here you will eat well, enjoy bars or a rocking dance floor to the accompaniment of the top 10 or oldies.

 At or Near Ekeberg Camping:
A Playground for the Young Ones
We have a playground for children in the area. Moreover, a Children's Farm and mini-golf are well within walking distance of the camping.
Good Hiking
Ekeberg camping is on the Ekeberg hill which is suitable for long walks and affords a good view of the city. The area has signposted footpaths which will take you to places such as the Palaeolithic rock carvings nearby. On the camping grounds, as such, there are even Palaeolithic "saucer depressions".
